Mamas & Papas A3 Pramette

When I was a little girl the one toy I really really wanted was a doll's pushchair with wheels that turned at the front! I never did get one, there was one Christmas when I thought that Santa was going to grant my wish, but my Dad explained that they were cheap and nasty, Santa liked to buy good quality gifts that would last... I got a Scalextrics instead!

When it came to shopping for my travel system last year I went to every shop that sells them. I got them down off the shelves, I pushed them round the shop, unfolded them, folded them, put things in the basket and hung my bag over the handles... I checked online reviews, asked friends for advice and then chose the one that I liked the best.

We have the Mamas and Papas A3 pramette, in green. Its beautiful - and its comfy and practical too.

Most of my friends have bought a second pushchair, the first was too heavy, too difficult to steer, the basket underneath was too small, the straps were fiddly, the chassis too flimsy, the wheels too big etc etc. I am so pleased with the travel system that we chose. I still love it as much as when we bought it.

The car seat is roomy and comfortable - it is suitable for a baby up to the age of 1 or 13kgs in weight. I didn't realise at the time, but most infant carriers aren't suitable after a baby reaches about 9kgs, so we have really got value for money with this. The pram part was long enough (just) for my son to lie down in till he was well past 6 months, which was very useful when we were on holiday and wanting to pop out in the evening, although he is so nosy I have been mostly using it as a pushchair since he was four months.

Its very easy to switch between pushchair, pram and to put the car seat on top. It's also extremely hardwearing, the wheels are a bit grubby now (have had to do a lot of walking to try and shift that pregnancy weight) but otherwise it is just like new. So is the matching footmuff and changing bag... and they have both been put through their paces!

The only thing that I would change is that it doesn't have two separate handles, just one bar all the way over. In some ways it is great - you can steer it one handed really easily, but on the other hand, where am I supposed to hang my shopping??

This travel system has actually been dicscontinued now, but there are several similar ones that have been launched this year. I would strongly recommend a close look at the M+P range, I think that they are brilliant!
